Picture Day

I look forward to the day all the kids go to school and get the mug shot picture taken for my wall. Until them I am forced to take Emersyn to have them done. This is her all dolled up before we go. She was actually really good (and doesn't look pained like she does in this picture)and I am happy to have her picture taken for the first time in a couple years. Ooops!

I wish you could see her super cute sparkle tennis shoes! Maybe another day.

Potato Boats

I got this recipe off of Zupas. Even The Captain said " were having those again".
We ate them with BBQ chicken.

Potato Boats

4 small baking potatoes, cut into wedges
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted

To top it off:
grated cheddar cheese
crumbled cooked bacon
sour cream
fresh or dried parsley

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large resealable plastic bag, add the flour, cheese, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Mix together well. Put milk in a small bowl.
2. Dip each potato wedge into the milk and then drop into the flour mixture. When all the potato wedges are in the flour mixture, seal the bag up and shake until all are evenly coated. Drop each potato wedge onto a baking sheet and drizzle the butter over each one. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until nicely browned.
3. Once out of the oven, top them with the cheddar cheese and bacon. Put back in the oven just until cheese is melted. Top with sour cream and parsley.

Happy Birthday!

On Wesley's 6th Birthday I was having what felt like a near death experience and I just realized I never reconized that he is a year older. I also forgot to charge the battery on my camera so these are the best I have from my camera. No worries my super friend came to help with the party while I suffered on the couch. She also ran home and got her camera and took a ton of great pictures. Scott also came through and carried through on all my great plans for the party!

Tip Junkie!

To help promote & feature some of the amazing women who have joined the Mom-preneur Shop-a-thon, Tip Junkie has set up the 12 Days of Christmas, um I mean Junkie! It will start today, Tuesday November 11th.

Walking

Everyday I make three trips to the school. E, Wm. and then pickup. Lately I have asked the boys to start walking just so they can get a little exercise and I can have a few more minutes to get work done. Every time they act like they will die if they take another step. I had my camera and tried to capture their drama.

This is more a picture of happiness that they don't have to walk. I wish they were always this happy to see me.

Halloween

Halloween with daddy. The last couple of years I have had to go by myself. It was nice to have Scott with us even if it did rain. When we got home I weighed Wm. and the candy for a grand total of 7.5 pounds of candy between the three of them. Hopefully in a couple days I can get rid of the candy and we can be over the sugar high and lows.

Lulu jumping for joy

Ariel or the mermaid depending on the moment you ask.

Boba Fett!

Jango Fett

No, I really don't know the difference. I only know it is offensive to call them storm troopers.

I love seeing the boys faces smashed against the mask. This was our first year with mask/helmet and hopefully the las. Scott and I ended up carrying them because the were bugging the boys. Ariel with the pose to get her noticed.

I love Halloween of Friday. Less pressure to get home and get the kids in bed at a reasonable time.

Crazy Hair Day!

This week is Red Ribbon Week and yesterday was Crazy Hair Day. The boys were both excited to have crazy hair but not to crazy. Luckily I found some good spray that shows up on dark hair. Lulu was scared I was going to spray green in her hair. Instead I gave her dancing hair.

That is supposed to be a "W".

Hard to tell from the picture but he was very proud of his green hair. Last night he "shampooed twice" just to make sure he got out all the green.

Kindergarten Field Trip.

For Wm. first field trip I went with his class, all four Kindergarten classes, to a corn maze, pumpkin patch, other activity place. The put all the kids on one bus and I was one of the lucky parents ride.

Her is Wesley jumping on an air filled jump thing (great description?)

Wesley with a little girl from his class, to bad the sun is right in their eyes. A common theme in all the pictures from that day.

That is his teacher. Yes, she is old enough to teach. She is so good with the kids unless I am there and then my child gets a little crazy.

Right before lunch we had to go pick a pumpkin for each of the kids. Since there were four there was no way I could carry all of them. I was excited to have their little mouths full for a few minutes to contain the pleas for help. Wow that really makes me sound like a mean momma.

October?

This is what we woke up to on Sunday morning. See the grey sky above the trees? That is where the mountains are supposed to be. By the time we got home from church the five inches had quickly melted off. The best part was our heater quit working. Good thing we have a fireplace and an oven.

Playing in the Rain

Grandma sent new rain coats and umbrellas. Saturday was the perfect day to try them out. It was a little chilly so it didn't last long.

Dancerella!

Lulu started dancing and this is her before her lessons. She did so great last week and had a complete meltdown this week? Who knows why but she pulled it together just in time for skipping and princess walking. They also started learning their dance "Baby take a Bow". So cute.

Do you like her moves?

Lu was very cooperative and let me go all out with her hair.

Train Museum!

As a final effort to be "fun" parents during the summer we took the kids to the train museum with their cousins.

Lulu's favorite place, on the phone!

What?

Lulu giving her best Vanna White impression.

What a nice big brother.

E with his cousin working hard.

E's favorite car. It was hard to chose just one.

ALL aboard!

Wm. loves the muscle shirt. All summer he requested to wear one of his three shirts. Thank you Grandpa Rick!

There was also an old car museum. This shows Wm. showing off his sweet moves.

Can you see those bulging biceps. He is one strong five year old.

No that summer is over I have no obligation to be fun! Right?

Lace Trim Socks do help you play soccer better...

or at least a tiara and knee pads do. Wm. had soccer practice and this was the get up Lulu came out in? So I embraced it and got it on camera. She loves the Fancy Nancy books and this just seemed like a page right out of one of those books. I had to post both picture just so you could see her posing.

Toe point, hand on hip, she must learn that from her dad! Do I pose like that?

Sweet Family

So I guess it is because I am married to the Good Captain that this story seems so impressionable on me but I thought I would help spread the word. There is a cute couple that was in a plan crash in Arizona. The instructor didn't make it. The mom has burns over 80% of her body and the dad has burns over 30%. I assume they are about the same age as we are, they have four little children and could use any prayers and financial help. I added some links on the side so you can read more about them.

First Day of School

E's first day of school was August 18th and a week later Wm. had his first day of kindergarten. They each wore their school shirt on the first day of school.
Do you think he looks a little scared? I would be. What a big day for him.

Rock Climbing

We spent the night in Boise a few weeks ago and the kids and I found a great park. These pics are the kids climbing the rocks.

Who are you?

My brother and I had a long discussion about movies and I found out he doesn't like any movie that is a time piece. WHAT? So I was forced to watch Pride & Prejudice. Today I found this little quiz. This isn't at all how I would describe my self but how accurate can it really be? Maybe I should have the captain fill it out for me and see who I am in his eyes, scary.

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

Take the Quiz here!

You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of ridiculousness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed.

The Chair

Summer is drawing to an end and I am actually very excited to get the boys back in school. Toady's reason: The Captain and I have had a banana chair since before we had children. He thought it would help him study chemistry, it didn't, it did help with the many hours of piloting classes, I think. Anyway, our somewhat tattered banana chair is the source of all contention in our home this week. Why? I don't know. I wish I knew. I had to lock it in my room just to keep the kids from fighting over it, seriously, a banana chair. It is mostly the boys but Lulu hates to be left out so she joins in the quest of being the ruler of the chair. No one wants to leave the chair because it would be like relinquishing the throne. So today I can't wait for school to start. When The Captain gets home we may consider getting rid of the chair or at least moving it into storage for awhile.

What would you do?

Your five-year-old has a cowlick in the middle of his uni brow, what do you do?

You may call this torture, I call it love. See how they pose so nicely for the picture before they rip it off and remember why they hate those wax strips.

It must come off, right? So they cause their own pain and I have two little boys and four eyebrows.

What is this stuff Mom?

Happy swimming.

Do you think he can even see out of those goggles? He says he can!
